Privacy Policy

This is the plain-English version of my privacy practices for helpwithweb.com. Short version: I don't sell your data, I don't track you beyond what's needed to run the site, and I only keep what you send me for as long as I need it to reply.

What I collect

Contact form submissions. When you send a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email address, and message text. These are stored in a private database on my server and emailed to me so I can reply.

Auto-acknowledgment reply. I send an automatic reply to your email address confirming receipt of your message. That's the only thing that email address is used for unless you write back and we start a conversation.

Server logs. Like most websites, my server records basic request logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp, user agent) for a limited time to diagnose errors and detect abuse. These are not tied to your contact form info.

Cookies. The site sets no tracking cookies. If I add analytics or embedded tools in the future that require cookies, I'll update this policy and (where legally required) show a consent banner.

What I DO NOT do

• I don't sell your data to anyone.
• I don't rent your data to anyone.
• I don't add you to any marketing list.
• I don't use trackers, pixels, or third-party analytics that follow you off the site.
• I don't share your contact form info with anyone.

How long I keep it

Contact form messages: kept as long as it's useful to have your history if we're working together. If we're not in an active engagement, I delete on request or after approximately 24 months, whichever comes first.

Server logs: 30 days, then automatically deleted.

Third-party services on this site

The site is self-hosted on a VPS I control. Emails go through my own SMTP server. Hero images are served from my own domain (downloaded from Unsplash with proper attribution). There is no Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar third-party tracker embedded.

Portfolio thumbnails link to third-party sites (my clients' sites). Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Your rights

You can email me at any time to ask what data I have about you, ask me to delete it, or correct it. Send a request to the contact form or reply to any email you've received from me. I'll respond within a few business days.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Contact form data is stored on a VPS I control with standard security practices (SSH keys, firewalled ports, regular OS updates). Nothing connected to the internet is ever perfectly secure — if a breach ever affected your data, I'd notify you promptly.

Changes

If I make material changes to this policy I'll update the “Last updated” date at the top. For meaningful changes affecting how your data is used, I'll also contact anyone who's corresponded with me recently.
